The co-benefits and trade-offs between reductions in organochlorines and greenhouse gas emissions are
associated with the impacts on energy use. If changes in energy use are associated with changes in the
amounts of fossil fuels being burned, the effects on greenhouse gas emissions will resemble those on
energy consumption, with the specific impacts being dependent on the type of fossil fuel being affected. If
the changes in energy consumption affect only biomass energy, there will be no significant effect on
greenhouse gas emissions.
